The supermarket sector will be in focus this week with both Tesco and Sainsbury’s set to post updates.

The trading figures come against the backdrop of increasing concern about the depth of the consumer slowdown as the Chancellor George Osborne sharpens his axe. The public sector has yet to see the worst of the cuts – but already, the high street appears to be struggling to deal with the dip in sentiment. Last week, figures from Argos owner Home Retail Group chilled the mood across the retail sector, and the two supermarkets will be closely watched for their comments on sector trends.

Premier Card.  Those 50,000 points are good for $500 in gift cards OR $665 in travel when you redeem your points through the ThankYou travel center.  This incredible deal is available for a limited time only on a limited number of sites, and it’s set to expire June 30th, 2011.

Franchises are poised to benefit from increases in small business lending, according to the Entrepreneurs Source business coaching company.

Pointing to recent Greenwich Associates and Capital One surveys, the Source said demand for small business loans is up, and credit is becoming easier to access. Greenwich Associates found 59 percent of small business respondents to its survey had applied for a loan within the last year, with a 57 percent success rate. Capitol One found 85 percent of respondents had been able to obtain necessary loans, up 15 percent from a year ago.

Brian Miller, president and COO of the Entrepreneurs Source, and Jeremy Ames, CEO and co-founder of Guidant Financial, said franchises are well-positioned to be approved for loans.
