The Norwegian Government says it will continue funding poverty eradication projects in Kenya as long as implementing agencies display transparency and accountability in using the funds.

Norwegian ambassador to Kenya Elisabeth Jacobsen said her country’s funding for health, water, education and other social sectors are tied to economic and political reform.

“Kenya has a potential to prosper economically and I encourage non-state actors involved in anti-corruption initiatives to intensify their effort so that the youth get opportunities to pursue their dreams in a corruption-free society,” she said before flagging off a mobile hearing clinic truck in Nairobi last week.

Deaf Aid, an organisation that gets backing from Norway to support deaf children in the country, donated the truck.

Deaf Aid country director Jean Claude Adzalla said the mobile hearing van and the awareness programme would cost Sh8 million. It targets to treat over 25,000 children in Nairobi slums and its environs.
